Yes, I noticed a hissing sound recently. What does that mean?

Okay, a hissing sound could indicate a leak somewhere in your exhaust system before the sensor. Like trying to measure bath water temperature with a hole in the tap pipe – the reading will be off! This could cause the temperature sensor to give incorrect readings, which then messes up the engine management. I'd suggest getting it to a workshop to check the exhaust system for leaks and test the sensor. That way you know what's up and they can fix what’s broken.

Thanks for the advice, I will do that. The workshop confirmed a leak in the exhaust system was causing the sensor to malfunction. Repair cost 265€.

Hey there! Sounds like a nuisance. When that check engine light pops up alongside power loss and thirstier fuel consumption, it's often something the engine management system isn't happy about. A faulty exhaust temperature sensor could be the culprit, but loads of things can trigger those symptoms. Any odd noises coming from the exhaust, like a hissing sound, almost like a punctured tyre?
