I've tried listening, but the ambient noise makes it hard to pinpoint. Is there a recommended method for isolating a vacuum leak, maybe a specific tool or technique?

Hmm, if you can't pinpoint it by ear, it might be tricky. It sounds like you're on the right track though. Given your expertise, have you considered a smoke test? Otherwise, maybe it's best to take it to a workshop – they'd probably find the problem quickly.

I appreciate your insights. I examined the hose connections more closely, and it was indeed a defective hose. The repair, replacing the hose, cost 175€ Thank you for your help.

Check engine light, eh? That's never fun! Vacuum hoses are notorious on those older Peugeots. Have you listened closely around the air intake with the engine running? Can you hear any hissing sounds that might indicate a leak?
