Peugeot 206 low power and smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Peugeot 206 diesel with 93,000 km is experiencing low engine power, excessive smoke, rough running, increased fuel consumption, and jerking during acceleration, accompanied by a check engine light and a hissing sound. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the EGR valve. It is recommended to have the error code read by a professional to confirm the diagnosis before proceeding with repairs.

Thanks for the quick reply! No, I haven't checked the error code yet. I don't have a code reader myself. Was it definitely the EGR valve in your case? And if so, was it a costly repair?

A defective EGR valve was the root cause, yes. Given the symptoms, getting the error code read by a professional workshop is advisable before proceeding with any repairs. It is likely the EGR valve but better to be sure.

Thanks a lot for your help! I'll take it to a workshop to get the error code checked. I'll let you know what happens. Just got a quote for 355€ for the repair!

I had similar symptoms on my 206. Could very well be a defective or jammed EGR valve. Did you check the error code?
