Thanks for the tip! When you say 'dodgy connection', do you mean the actual clamp that attaches to the battery post, or somewhere further down the wire? Also, did your car give you any other warning signs before it completely died?

Yeah, in my case it was the clamp itself. It looked okay at first glance, but there was some hidden corrosion underneath. The only warning I had was the engine stalling a couple of times before it finally gave up. Honestly, I'd get it checked by a professional if you're not sure. It could be something more serious, like an ECU failure, or even just a software glitch in the engine management system. An ECU is like the car's brain, and it controls many things, including the engine.

Thanks a lot for your help! It turned out you were right. The cable connections of the battery were not good. Took it to a workshop and they cleaned the connections. Cost me 155€, but at least it's running again.

Hey, I had a similar problem with my old Vauxhall Astra. Same symptoms - engine light on, wouldn't start. Turned out to be a dodgy connection to the battery. Have you checked for any corrosion or loose wires? Even a tiny bit of corrosion can mess things up. By the way, a 'dodgy connection' means a connection that isn't making good contact, maybe because it's loose or corroded.
