Yeah, the overheating happens pretty fast, especially in city driving. What exactly am I looking for when I check the electromechanism? Is it something I can fix myself, or should I just take it to a mechanic?

The electromechanism is often the culprit. If you're not comfortable with car electrics, I'd advise against DIY. I ended up taking mine to a workshop; they confirmed it was defective and replaced the whole unit. It's a common fault. Best to get it checked properly to avoid further engine damage.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on - it was the air flap electromechanism. Cost me about 590€ to get it sorted, but at least the check engine light is off and the overheating is gone!

Sounds like an active air flap fault. I had a similar issue with my 206. Does the engine overheat quickly, and does it seem to struggle at higher speeds? You might want to check the grille shutter's electromechanism.
