Thanks for the quick reply. The spark plugs were changed about 20,000 km ago. It's my everyday car, so it hasn't been sitting unused. Could a faulty injection valve really cause all these problems?

A defective injector valve can indeed cause those issues. Too much fuel entering the cylinders will lead to incomplete combustion, hence the rough running, reduced power, increased fuel consumption, and the check engine light. I'd advise getting the injectors checked professionally at a workshop.

Thanks a lot for your advice! I took the car to the workshop, and they confirmed that the fuel injectors were defective and replaced them. The repair cost 515€. Now the car is running perfectly again!

Sounds like a fuel injection problem. When was the last time you checked your spark plugs? A rich mixture combined with those symptoms definitely points towards the injectors. Has the car been sitting for a long time?
