Peugeot 206 Turbo Issues

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my 2014 Peugeot 206, Diesel engine. The check engine light is on, and the car feels like it's lost a lot of power. It's got 274328 km on the clock. It's sluggish to respond, sometimes stalls when idling, and the fuel consumption has definitely increased. I've also noticed a whistling noise, and a loud hissing sound when accelerating. Could this be related to a turbo problem?

Hey, sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my Peugeot a while back. Does it feel like there's a noticeable turbo lag, almost like the turbo isn't kicking in properly? A whistling and hissing noise, combined with the power loss and increased fuel consumption, definitely points towards a boost leak somewhere. Have you checked for any obvious cracks or loose hoses around the turbo and intercooler?

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm not very mechanically minded, so I haven't really checked anything myself. I've heard of turbo lag, but I don't really know what to look for in terms of leaks or cracks. Is it something I could easily spot, or is it more complicated than that? Could it also be something with the boost control system?

Well, sometimes you can spot obvious cracks in the hoses, but it can be tricky. Since you mentioned stalling and the whistling noise, it really does sound like a boost leak or a wastegate valve issue like you said. Honestly, with those symptoms, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. They can do a pressure test on the system to pinpoint the exact location of the leak, which is tough to do yourself without the right equipment. I ended up paying 860€ for similar repairs!

Thanks so much for your advice! I'll book it in with a local garage and mention the wastegate valve. Hopefully, they can sort it out without too much trouble. I really appreciate you sharing your experience!
