Peugeot 206 uneven engine running

Hi, I'm having a really frustrating issue with my 2013 Peugeot 206 (gasoline engine). It's done 293263 km. The engine is running really unevenly, and the check engine light keeps coming on. I've got an error stored in the memory, and it feels like the car is jerking when I accelerate. I've checked the air filter, but it looks fine. Could it be the timing belt, ignition coil, oxygen sensor or even the fuel injectors? Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Peugeot 206 with 293,263 km was experiencing uneven engine running and a check engine light. Potential causes considered were the timing belt, ignition coil, oxygen sensor, or fuel injectors. A suggestion to check the exhaust system for leaks led to the discovery of a leak in the exhaust manifold, which was repaired, resolving the issue.

I had similar issues with my 206. Check your exhaust system for leaks.

Thanks for the quick response! Where exactly on the exhaust system should I be looking? Was it obvious when you found the leak on yours?

It was hard to spot, honestly. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop so they can put it on a lift and check it properly. I think it's worth it to rule it out as the source of the problem.

Thanks for the advice. You were spot on! Took it to a local shop, and they found a leak in the exhaust manifold. Repair cost me 265€, but it's running smoothly now. Appreciate the help!
