Peugeot 207 Active Hood Fault

Need help! My 2012 Peugeot 207 (gasoline engine) is flashing "Active hood fault" and the airbag light is on. Code reader shows an error related to the active hood system. Maybe the spring actuators are triggering? It's got about 67540 km on it. Thinking it might be crash detection related?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my 207. The "Active hood fault" message popped up out of nowhere, scared me. Does it feel like anything is actually happening with the hood, or is it just the warning? When these systems go haywire, it can be super annoying!

Thanks for the reply! No, the hood itself seems totally normal, thankfully. Just the error message and the airbag light. Did yours end up being a sensor issue or something more complicated? I'm trying to avoid a massive repair bill if I can!

Okay, that's good news about the hood itself. Honestly, mine was a defective acceleration sensor. It's part of the active hood system, which is designed to pop the hood up a bit in a crash to protect pedestrians. Apparently, the sensor got a bit overzealous and thought I was crashing when I wasn't! I'd definitely get it checked out by a pro. Might save you some headaches!

Thanks a bunch! Took your advice and brought it to the shop. Turns out you were spot on – faulty acceleration sensor! New sensor installed and error cleared for 315€ Appreciate the help!
