Peugeot 207 audio system failure

Good day. I have a 2012 Peugeot 207 diesel with nearly 300,000 km. Recently, the audio system stopped working entirely. There's no sound output whatsoever, regardless of the source. Could this be a defective speaker?

Hey, I've got a 207 too. Had something similar happen a while back. Does the volume control do anything at all, or is it completely dead? Have you tried USB audio or Bluetooth?

The volume control appears to be non-responsive. I've tried the USB input, but there is no change. I don't usually use Bluetooth. Was your issue exactly the same?

Yep, sounds familiar. Mine was totally dead, no response from anything. Turned out to be a defective speaker. If it's the bass speaker like mine was, it’s apparently quite common. Best bet is to get it checked out at a workshop.

Thank you for confirming. I'll take it to a shop as you suggested. It did end up being the bass speaker, and the repair cost was 280€. Thanks again for your help!
