Peugeot 207 Crankshaft Sensor Issue

I'm having a perplexing issue with my 2009 Peugeot 207 diesel (277191 km). The check engine light is on, and I'm experiencing reduced engine power, poor engine response, and higher fuel consumption. Diagnostics show a 'Crankshaft to Camshaft Reference Value' error. I suspect the crankshaft sensor. Has anyone dealt with this before?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my old Vauxhall Astra - although mine was petrol - a few years back. Constant limp mode and the engine management light was always on. The error pointed towards the timing chain being out of sync. Did you check the sensor wiring for damage or corrosion? That was my first check before suspecting the sensor itself.

Good point about the wiring, hadn't thought about that. I'll check it tomorrow. What was the final fix for your Astra? And what was the diagnostic code you were getting?

For me, it was the crank sensor. It gave a similar code but it was vendor specific. I tried cleaning the sensor head but it didn't make a difference. I'd advise going to a reputable workshop to clarify the errors. It's worth the cost to be sure. Replacing the sensor isn't too expensive, but timing issues can be a rabbit hole.

The crankshaft sensor was defective, as suspected. Replaced it today and all symptoms are now gone. Total bill came to 340€, including labor. Appreciate your help!
