Peugeot 207 gearbox slippage

I have a 2010 Peugeot 207 with a gasoline engine. I'm noticing some slippage, the gearbox isn't shifting cleanly. My local mechanic mentioned something about a transfer case oil wear fault. The car has 89328 km on it. He suspects the gears are defective. Has anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2010 Peugeot 207 is experiencing gearbox slippage, with the gearbox not shifting cleanly. A mechanic suspects a transfer case oil wear fault and potentially defective gears. The issue was confirmed by a workshop, and the suggested solution is to repair the transfer case.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I know Peugeots can be fussy. I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 308. Was your mechanic able to check the transfer fluid levels? I'm wondering if that might be the issue.

He did check the levels, said they were fine, but he suspects mechanical wear. Is that what happened with your 308?

Yes, eventually. After some diagnostics, the garage confirmed it was indeed defective gears in the transfer case. I'd suggest booking it into a workshop for a proper inspection.

Thanks. I appreciate you sharing your experience. I did take it to a workshop, and they confirmed the transfer case issue. Repair cost is estimated at 330€. I'll get it fixed.
