Peugeot 207 Tailgate Hall Sensor Issue

I'm having an issue with the tailgate hall sensor on my 2006 Peugeot 207 diesel with 256881 km. The error memory has a persistent error, and the tailgate doesn't open completely. Diagnostics point to a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone else seen this?

Oh, that sounds familiar! I have a 207 too, and something like that happened to me last year. The tailgate would act all weird, and the error light was driving me nuts. Did you check the wiring harness where it goes from the car body to the tailgate? That's where my problem was. Seems like those wires get brittle and break over time.

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you give me more detail about the wiring fault? Was it a complete break, or just damaged insulation causing a short circuit? Do you remember the repair cost?

Okay, so it was right in that rubber boot thingy where the wires bend every time you open the tailgate. I didn't actually fix it myself, I'm not that great with cars. I took it to a workshop, and they sorted it out. Honestly, I would suggest you do the same, you will save so much time.

I appreciate the advice. Given your experience and how complex car electronics are now, I'll get professional help. Your input confirms the likely problem source. I'll post the resolution. The repair cost 95€.
