Peugeot 207 Temperature Gauge Problem

Good day. I am writing to inquire about a peculiar issue I've encountered with my 2007 Peugeot 207, equipped with a gasoline engine. The vehicle has approximately 12812 kilometers on the odometer. I suspect a cooling grille restriction, as the instrument cluster occasionally displays incorrect temperatures. Furthermore, the check engine light illuminates intermittently, and I've observed that the engine requires a considerably longer duration to achieve its normal operating temperature. Has anyone experienced a similar predicament? I was also wondering, would a defective fuse cause these issues?

Hello. I also own a Peugeot 207, and I had a similar problem a while ago. The temperature readings were all over the place, and the engine seemed to take forever to warm up, especially during colder months. I never saw the check engine light though. Could you check if your radiator fan is running constantly, even when the engine is cold? It might be a faulty sensor or thermostat. Did you notice anything else unusual, like coolant leaks or strange noises?

Thank you for your response. I have not noticed any coolant leaks, nor any unusual noises emanating from the engine bay. As for the radiator fan, I shall endeavor to ascertain whether it operates continuously, even when the engine is cold. However, could you elaborate on the resolution to your particular issue? Did it ultimately necessitate a visit to a qualified technician?

Yes, after checking the obvious things myself, I decided to take it to a workshop. They diagnosed a faulty thermostat that was causing the engine to run cold. It’s best to get it checked professionally; it could save you from bigger problems down the road. I suggest you do the same.

I appreciate your guidance and insight. Based on your recommendation, I shall schedule an appointment with a reputable automotive technician for a comprehensive diagnostic assessment. For the record, it turns out the cooling grille restriction was caused by a faulty thermostat and a defective fuse. The total cost of the repair amounted to 52€. Thank you once again for your assistance.
