Peugeot 208 Camshaft Sensor Issue

My 2017 Peugeot 208 with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. It starts poorly, engine power is way down, and there's an error stored. My mechanic suspects the camshaft sensor. Could a bad cable or plug connection really be the problem? Anyone seen this?

I had something similar with my old Opel Astra, but it was the crankshaft sensor. Rough idling, timing issues… same symptoms. Check the wiring and the connector first. Could save you a bunch.

So, check the cable or plug connection of the camshaft sensor before replacing it? Was it hard to get to the sensor on your Astra?

Yep, that's what I mean. It's often the simplest things. Access wasn't too bad on the Astra, but if you're not comfortable, take it to a workshop. I ended up doing that anyway after checking the wiring myself.

Thanks! You were spot on. It was a bad cable connection to the camshaft sensor. The repair cost 95€. Saved a lot of money and stress!
