Peugeot 208 exhaust leak

Hi, I have a 2019 Peugeot 208 (gasoline engine) with a possible exhaust issue. The check engine light comes on, engine power is reduced, and fuel consumption is higher. Mileage is 235573 km. Could this be a faulty exhaust temperature sensor?

That sounds very familiar! I had something similar happen in my 208 (although a few years older). The symptoms were identical. Did you check for any leaks in the exhaust system? It might be worth a look. It's often the culprit and can throw off the temperature readings.

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly should I be looking for leaks in the exhaust system?

Well, I am no expert but start by visually inspecting the exhaust pipe and its connections, from the engine to the back of the car. Listen for any unusual hissing sounds when the engine is running; this may indicate a leak. But if you aren't comfortable, I'd recommend a visit to a workshop, since it could get worse.

OK, I appreciate the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and you were right! It was a leak near the temperature sensor, which needed replacing. Total cost was 265€. Thanks!
