Thanks for your reply. The battery seems fine, the car starts without problems. Could it be something else besides the battery? Any ideas?

While other issues can affect the start-stop, based on your symptoms, a failing battery is most probable, especially if it's the original one. I would recommend having the battery professionally tested. A discharged or defective battery can cause the start-stop to malfunction and also shows the described symptoms. Better have someone check the error codes, too.

Thank you. I took your advice and had the battery checked. It was indeed heavily discharged and needed replacing. New battery cost me 290€. The start-stop system is now working perfectly again.

I also drive a Peugeot 208 and experienced similar issues with the start-stop system. The engine shutting off unexpectedly is concerning. Is the battery showing any signs of weakness? Start-stop relies heavily on a healthy battery to function correctly; it needs enough charge to restart the engine quickly and reliably, otherwise the eco mode and starter motor are disabled for safety reasons.
