Peugeot 3008 knocking sound power loss

I've got a 2012 Peugeot 3008, gasoline engine, with nearly 200k kilometers. Lately, it's been acting up. I'm getting a noticeable knocking sound – sounds like combustion is off. Power's down, it jerks when I accelerate, and there's a puff of smoke sometimes when I put my foot down. Plus, the computer's throwing error codes. Any ideas? Thinking maybe piston slap or pre-ignition?

I drive a 3008 as well and experienced comparable issues. Was the noise persistent or intermittent? And, approximately when did you first notice these symptoms?

It's pretty persistent, especially when the engine's under load. Started maybe a month ago, gradually getting worse. What was it like for you?

My experience aligns; it became more pronounced over time. Given the symptoms, it may be related to combustion chamber deposits. I would recommend having the cylinder heads checked by a workshop.

Thanks for the insight! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on – combustion chamber was a mess. Ended up costing me 425€ to get it sorted, but it's running much smoother now.
