Peugeot 3008 Power Steering Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Peugeot 3008 Hybrid is experiencing power steering issues, including a vibrating steering wheel, spongy handling, and an error message, indicating potential power steering failure. Preliminary diagnostics suggest a defective cable or plug connection as the cause. A similar case involved a corroded cable connection near the steering rack, affecting the power supply to the electric motor assisting the steering. The recommended solution is to have a qualified workshop diagnose and repair the issue, which was confirmed and resolved by replacing the defective cable.

Could you tell me exactly where the corroded cable connection was located in your case? Knowing that would help me diagnose it before I visit a workshop.

As I recall, the connection was near the steering rack. It supplies power to the electric motor that assists the steering. If that connection is damaged, you can have the described issues. Given the error memory and symptoms, I'd advise against DIY repairs unless you have extensive experience with automotive electrical systems. A qualified workshop would be safest for diagnosis and repair.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I took it to a certified Peugeot workshop, and the cable connection was indeed defective, as suspected. The repair, including replacing the cable, cost 95€.

I have a Peugeot 3008 as well, though I'm unsure of the year. I had similar symptoms: vibrating steering wheel and increased steering effort, especially at lower speeds. It was a faulty connection in the power steering system. The cable to the steering pump had corroded, causing intermittent power. Check those cables and connections thoroughly. The steering pump provides the hydraulic pressure, so a defect there can cause your symptoms. Also, check the pressure hose; if it's leaking, the steering feel can get spongy.
