Peugeot 3008 Smoke Warning Light

Alright Peugeot gurus, I'm pulling my hair out! My 2017 Peugeot 3008 hybrid is throwing a hissy fit. Keep getting a warning light in the speedometer and it's puffing out smoke when I put my foot down. Could this be the exhaust back pressure sensor? Any ideas before I end up bankrupt?

Smoke and a warning light, eh? I had something similar with my 3008. What kind of driving do you typically do? Lots of short trips, or longer runs?

Mostly short trips around town, to be honest. Does that make a difference? What was your issue, and what did you do?

Yeah, short trips can gunk things up. Mine was the exhaust back pressure sensor, exactly like you suspected. Honestly, with those symptoms and the hybrid engine, I'd just bite the bullet and get it checked at a workshop. You could try cleaning the sensor, but it’s probably toast. And driving with a faulty sensor can mess up other things.

Thanks! Took it to a garage, and you nailed it – exhaust back pressure sensor. Cost me 245€ to replace, but at least the smoke show has stopped!
