Peugeot 3008 starting gear selection issues

I'm having a nightmare with my 2019 Peugeot 3008 hybrid. It's got nearly 250k km on the clock. Basically, the car won't start sometimes, and I'm getting some weird errors. The gear selection shows up on the dash, but it doesn't actually do anything. Plus, my cruise control is dead. I ran a diagnostic and it's showing an error related to the clutch pedal switch. Could a dodgy clutch switch really cause all this chaos?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Peugeot 3008 hybrid with nearly 250,000 km is experiencing starting issues, gear selection problems, and non-functional cruise control. A diagnostic revealed an error related to the clutch pedal switch, which could be causing these issues. A loose or corroded connection in the clutch pedal switch circuit can lead to such symptoms by affecting the data sent to the engine control unit. The solution involved securing and cleaning the connector on the clutch pedal switch, resolving the issues effectively.

I happen to be familiar with the Peugeot 3008 and similar electrical issues. The symptoms you describe – the inability to start, the malfunctioning gear selection display, and the cruise control failure, combined with the stored error code relating to the clutch pedal switch - do indicate a potential fault within that circuit. The clutch pedal switch provides essential data to the engine control unit (ECU), impacting starting, gear selection logic, and cruise control operation. May I inquire if you have inspected the wiring and connector associated with the clutch pedal switch for any visible signs of damage or corrosion?

Thanks for the reply! I had a quick look at the wiring and the plug, and I didn't see anything obviously wrong, but I'm no expert. Is there anything specific I should be looking for? Like, could a slightly loose connection cause all these problems?

Indeed, a slightly loose or corroded connection within the clutch pedal switch circuit can manifest such intermittent and diverse symptoms. The fluctuating resistance within the circuit may result in the ECU receiving spurious or incomplete data, hence affecting functionalities tied to the engine starting sequence, gear selection, and cruise control. Given the complexity and potential implications of an incorrect diagnosis, I would strongly recommend consulting a qualified automotive technician for a thorough inspection and rectification of the electrical system. A diagnostic assessment using specialized equipment can pinpoint the exact location and nature of the fault.

Okay, thanks a lot for the advice. I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on! It turned out to be a loose connector on the clutch pedal switch. They cleaned it up and secured it properly, and everything's working fine now. Cost me 95€, which is a lot better than a new clutch! Cheers!
