Peugeot 301 Active Hood Fault Airbag Warning

My 2014 Peugeot 301 with a gasoline engine (155599 km) is showing an "Active hood fault" on the computer, and the airbag light is on. Diagnostics show a stored error, and the spring actuators have been triggered. Could a bad acceleration sensor be the cause?

That's remarkably similar to what happened with my 2016 Opel Astra. The pedestrian collision warning kept lighting up, and it turned out to be a faulty impact sensor. Has the car taken any hard hits lately, like a really bad pothole?

Thanks. The car hasn't had any major impacts that I know of. Could you tell me more about the sensor that failed in your Astra, and where it was located?

Sure. In my Astra, it was the front impact sensor behind the bumper, part of the pedestrian safety system. Your Peugeot 301 is probably similar. I'd suggest having a shop check the wiring and the sensor itself. It was an expensive fix for me. Hopefully, it won't be the same for you.

I appreciate the explanation. I'll book an appointment with a workshop to check the impact sensor and related parts. The repair ended up costing 315€. Thanks again for the advice.
