Peugeot 301 Camshaft Sensor Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2020 Peugeot 301 gasoline. It has about 280119 km. It's hard to start, stalls sometimes, and the check engine light is on. I think it might be the camshaft sensor. Could the encoder wheel on the camshafts be the problem?

Hey there. I had something similar happen with my 301. Check engine light was on, and it was running rough, especially when cold. It felt like the engine was hiccupping, kind of like when you're trying to catch your breath after a sprint. Did you get any specific error codes when you checked it?

Yes, the error code indicated a fault with the camshaft position sensor. Was the repair costly, and did it fix all the issues you were having?

Ah, the dreaded camshaft sensor. It could be the sensor itself, or as you mentioned, the encoder wheel thingy. I'm no mechanic, but I've heard those wheels can get damaged. Honestly, after chasing a few possible causes myself, I ended up just taking it to a workshop. They sorted it out. It wasn't cheap, but it fixed the problem completely. Saved me a lot of headaches.

Based on your experience, I'll book an appointment with a workshop to check the camshaft sensor and encoder wheel. The repair is estimated to be about 695€. Hopefully, that will fix it. Thanks for the help.
