Peugeot 301 Engine Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Peugeot 301 diesel with 60,045 km is experiencing engine overheating and a persistent check engine light, accompanied by coolant leakage after driving. The coolant level appears normal when the engine is cold, suggesting a possible issue with excessive pressure. The problem was identified as a defective cable connection to the control unit, which was resolved by a local workshop.

Thanks! I don't have a code reader myself, so I'm just seeing the check engine light. When you say 'cable and plug connections', which control unit are you referring to specifically? Is it something I can easily check myself, or is it buried deep?

Yeah, without the code, it's tough to pinpoint. It ended up being a defective connection for me, triggering all sorts of weirdness. Honestly, unless you're comfortable poking around the engine bay, I'd advise getting it checked by a workshop. It'll save you a headache in the long run.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on – a defective cable connection to the control unit was the culprit. Repair cost me 95€ Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my 301. Is it throwing any specific error codes, or just the check engine light? Could be a control unit communication fault. Worth checking the cable and plug connections to the components first.
