Peugeot 301 Torque Converter Issue

Thanks for the quick response! The error codes were P0741 and P1740, both referencing the torque converter lock-up clutch performance. Given these codes, is it safe to assume the converter itself is the culprit, or could there be other factors, like solenoids or valve body issues, mimicking the same symptoms?

With those specific codes, P0741 and P1740, the defective torque converter is a near certainty. While solenoids or valve body issues could theoretically contribute, it's akin to blaming a leaky faucet for a burst pipe. The converter's lock-up clutch is the prime suspect. At this point, further DIY diagnosis might be futile and could cause additional damage. I highly recommend consulting a qualified transmission specialist for an accurate assessment and repair.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions and providing that helpful analogy! I took it to a transmission specialist, and they confirmed the torque converter was indeed defective. The repair, including parts and labor, came to 2120€. A hefty price, but at least it's resolved. Appreciate your assistance!

Greetings. Based on your description, the symptoms certainly align with a torque converter issue, specifically the lock-up clutch. The grinding noises and slipping are telltale signs. Did the error codes specifically mention the torque converter, or were they more generic transmission codes? Knowing the exact codes would offer additional insight.
