Peugeot 307 engine running rough

Having trouble with my 2008 Peugeot 307, gasoline engine, at 92967 km. Check engine light keeps popping up, and the engine seems to be running rough, especially at idle. I've also noticed a stronger exhaust smell than usual, and I'm pretty sure I can hear a slight exhaust leak near the front of the car. I'm suspecting some sort of exhaust treatment malfunction. Could it be a defective lambda sensor? Has anyone else experienced this?

Hello, I actually had a similar problem on my 307! Check engine light, rough running... the whole nine yards. Was yours also throwing any specific error codes, or did you notice any loss of power? Did you also check the exhaust pipe?

Hey! Thanks for the quick reply. I did a scan and it's showing a P0420 code, which seems to indicate a catalytic converter issue or oxygen sensor problem. Power seems normal, but the exhaust smell is concerning. What was the fix for your 307?

P0420 sounds familiar... I eventually took it to a workshop. They ran some diagnostics and found a faulty lambda sensor. Given the exhaust leak you mentioned, it may be linked. Better have a mechanic take a look at the exhaust pipe.

Okay, I appreciate the advice! I'll take it to a trusted workshop and have them check the lambda sensor and the entire exhaust system, especially the exhaust pipe, for leaks. I'll post a diagnosis once I have it. By the way the repair ended up costing me 375€. Thanks again for the help!
