Peugeot 307 Heating Issue

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2003 Peugeot 307, gasoline engine. The heating is barely working - it's like a lukewarm breeze at best. I also scanned the car and there's an error code stored, something about the water valve. I've checked the obvious stuff like coolant level, and the connection seems okay, but I suspect the cable or plug connection. Anyone else had this? Could this really be the water valve? It's got 200593 km on the clock. Is it hard to replace?

Summary of the thread

A 2003 Peugeot 307 is experiencing heating issues, with only lukewarm air being produced. An error code related to the water valve suggests it may be the cause. The problem could stem from a faulty water valve or corroded wiring connections. Checking the wiring and connections is advised, but if the issue persists, replacing the water valve at a workshop is recommended.

I had something similar on my Peugeot 307, although a bit newer. Sounds like your water valve is toast. Think of it like a tap that's stuck halfway – not enough hot water getting to the heater matrix. Check the wiring carefully; sometimes it's just a corroded connector causing the issue.

Okay, thanks! So, when you say 'similar', was it the same symptoms – poor heating and an error code? And when you mention the wiring, specifically which wires should I be checking? Is there a common point where they fail?

Yep, same symptoms – freezing in winter! And the error code pointed to the water valve circuit. Honestly, tracing the wires is a pain. If the connector looks clean, you're probably looking at a faulty valve. Best bet is to take it to a workshop; they'll diagnose it properly and replace the valve if needed. I think the spare part and labor were 95€, so it shouldn't break the bank.

Thanks a lot for the insight! I'll check the connections again, but it sounds like a trip to the shop is in order. Your experience has saved me a lot of time, as I would've probably spent ages trying to fix something beyond my expertise. Will post back with the final diagnosis and solution. Turns out it was exactly as you said. The car is running smooth now.
