Peugeot 307 MAF Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Peugeot 307 diesel with nearly 300,000 kilometers is experiencing higher fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, a check engine light, and smoke during acceleration. These symptoms suggest a potential mass air flow (MAF) sensor issue, which can affect the air-fuel ratio and overall engine performance. A garage visit confirmed the MAF sensor failure, and replacing it resolved the issues.

Decreasing performance, certainly, but how would I concretely check the air-fuel ratio without diagnostic tools? Any thoughts?

That's tricky without the right gear, isn't it? Considering the symptoms and mileage, and given how crucial the MAF is for optimal combustion, a garage visit might be wise to confirm.

Garage confirmed the MAF sensor was shot. 365€ later, it's sorted. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Sounds like MAF sensor failure, yeah. Is it affecting your car's air-fuel ratio? Is your performance decreasing as well?
