Peugeot 307 oil level sensor error

I own a Peugeot 307 built in 2007, diesel engine, with 136855 km on the clock. I am encountering an error message and warning light in the speedometer, related to the oil level sensor. The oil pressure warning lamp lights up as well. Error is also stored in the error memory. Could this be due to a faulty sensor or a defective cable?

I had a similar issue with my 307. These symptoms – error message in the speedometer, stored error, oil pressure light – all point to the oil level sensor. Before replacing it, have you checked the cable and plug connections? The sensor itself might be fine, and the problem could just be a bad connection. "Ohms" measure electrical resistance, and checking the "continuity" means verifying if the current flows uninterrupted along the cable. Any visible corrosion?

Thanks for the advice. I have checked the connections, but I am not sure about corrosion. Where exactly should I be looking for corrosion? Are there any specific points on the cable or plug that are more susceptible?

Corrosion often occurs at the plug where it connects to the sensor itself, due to moisture and road grime. Also, inspect the cable along its entire length for any chafing or breaks in the insulation, particularly where it might rub against the engine or chassis. Honestly, given the age, it might be best to have a workshop take a closer look. You don't want to risk further damage by trying to fix it yourself without proper equipment.

Thank you for the helpful advice. I took it to the workshop, and indeed it was a defective cable/plug connection as initially suspected. The repair cost was 95€. Appreciate your help!
