Peugeot 308 Anti-Theft System Issue

I'm experiencing issues with the anti-theft system on my 2017 Peugeot 308 (gasoline engine, 107012 km). The error memory stores an error related to the alarm, and the system seems completely non-functional. Has anyone encountered something similar? I suspect a power failure, or maybe something is messing with the immobilizer.

Hey! I've seen weird stuff happen with car alarms before, especially after a battery change or if there's been any electrical work done. Does the alarm try to activate at all, or is it just completely dead? Maybe check the fuses related to the alarm system. Also, did this start happening suddenly, or after some event?

Thanks for the quick response. It's completely dead, no siren or flashing lights. I checked the fuses; they seem fine. It started happening suddenly, no prior events that I can recall. You mentioned electrical work; what kind of electrical problems can affect the alarm system like that?

Okay, completely dead is a bit odd if the fuses are good. Sometimes the alarm system can get coded to activate optical locking, meaning it only uses the indicators and no siren. If the coding is faulty, the whole alarm might be disabled. Honestly, at this point, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. They'll have the right tools to diagnose the coding and the anti-theft system itself. Sounds like it might be something specific to the Peugeot system.

Thanks, I appreciate the suggestion. Took it to the workshop, and you were right; the alarm system was coded to only use the indicators, which wasn't working. Recoding cost me 45€, and everything is working fine now.
