Peugeot 308 automatic gearbox issue

My 2023 Peugeot 308 (electric engine) is giving me grief. It's got 277605 km on the clock, and the automatic gearbox is acting up. I can't shift with the paddles, it's slipping gears, making horrible grinding noises, and the paddle shifters are slower than molasses. Gearbox is stuck in emergency mode, and the error memory is full of warnings. Pretty sure the transmission control unit is buggered. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds rough. I had similar symptoms on my old Volvo V60 – although it was a petrol engine. Gearbox would randomly go into limp mode. Have you had the error codes read? That's where I'd start.

Yeah, I read the codes. It's definitely pointing towards a defective transmission control unit. I'm just wondering if it's a common problem, or if there's anything else I should check before I bite the bullet and replace the whole thing.

Ah, if the codes are clear on the TCU, then it sounds like that's your culprit. With the Volvo, I ended up having to replace the whole module. Not much you can do yourself unfortunately. Best bet is to get it to a workshop you trust.

Appreciate the input. Ended up taking it to the shop. They confirmed the control unit was toast. 1000€ later, it's shifting smoothly again. Nightmare!
