Peugeot 308 Damping Adjustment Fault

My 2023 Peugeot 308 (electric) has 135078 km and I'm getting a 'damping adjustment fault'. The error is stored, and there's a warning light. The ride is incredibly bumpy. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection in the suspension. Anyone experienced anything similar?

I had a similar issue with my Volvo V60. 'Damping' controls the suspension's springs and shock absorbers. My Volvo displayed similar symptoms – warning light and a harsh ride. Have you checked the connectors to the suspension control module? A loose or corroded connector can cause intermittent faults. Also, some vehicles have sensors on the dampers that might be faulty. The car's computer uses signals from these sensors to adjust the damping.

Thanks for the info! Could you give me more detail on where I might find these components on the Peugeot 308? I'm reasonably handy, but haven't delved into the suspension system before.

While I don't know the exact location on the 308, on my Volvo, the suspension control module was located in the trunk, near the spare tire well. Consult the Peugeot 308 repair manual to find the exact location. The sensors on the dampers are usually directly mounted on top of the shock absorbers. Since you're seeing a fault, it's best to get it checked at a workshop. My issue ended up being a faulty sensor, which needed replacement. Continuing to drive with this fault might further damage other components of the suspension.

Thanks, that confirms my suspicions. I took it to the workshop today and they confirmed it's a defective cable/plug connection. Repair cost is estimated at 95€ Appreciate the advice!
