Peugeot 308 Oil Pressure Warning Light

I'm experiencing an unsettling issue with my 2021 Peugeot 308 diesel. A warning light is on, car diagnostics revealed an error, and the oil pressure warning lamp occasionally lights up. Could this be a faulty engine oil temperature sensor, possibly linked to a defective cable or plug connection? Mileage is at 39799 km. Any insights?

I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 308. Same symptoms – warning light, error code, oil pressure light flickering. It could be the oil temperature sensor, as you suspect. I'd check the sensor's wiring and connector first. Has the car had any recent work done that might have disturbed the wiring?

Thanks for the quick response! No, the car hasn't had any recent maintenance that might have affected the wiring. Since we share a similar model and issues, could you elaborate on your situation? Were the symptoms identical, and did you resolve the problem yourself?

Yes, the symptoms were almost identical. The oil pressure light was intermittent at first, then more frequent. I didn't attempt a repair myself; diagnostics pointed to the oil temperature sensor. Given your car is a 2021 model, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. They have the proper tools to pinpoint the cause and replace the sensor if needed. It’s better to be safe when dealing with potential oil pressure issues.

I appreciate your advice; it's been invaluable. A mechanic inspected it and confirmed it was the engine oil temperature sensor and the cable connection was defective, as suspected. The repair cost 95€, which I think is reasonable. Thanks again for the guidance!
