Peugeot 308 oxygen sensor heater failure

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2014 Peugeot 308 diesel. The check engine light is on, and the error memory says something about the oxygen sensor heater failing. I've also noticed my fuel consumption has gone up. I've checked the sensor's wiring and plug, and they seem okay visually. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hey! I had a similar issue with my 308. It sounds like it could be the oxygen sensor itself. Did you check the sensor resistance? That might give you a better clue if it's faulty. Which sensor is it reporting an error on? Pre-cat or post-cat?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the sensor resistance yet, but that's a good idea. The error doesn't specify which sensor, just says oxygen sensor heater failure. Is there an easy way to figure out which one it is without specialized tools?

Yeah, it's tricky when it doesn't specify! When mine went, the computer wasn't very specific either. I'd honestly recommend taking it to a workshop. They can pinpoint exactly which sensor is causing the problem with the diagnostic tool. Saved me a lot of headache!

Alright, I think I will take it to a shop then. Thanks a lot for the advice! They found that the cable to the oxygen sensor was indeed defective and fixed it for 95€. Hopefully, that will sort it out.
