Peugeot 4007 diesel mass air flow issue

My 2007 Peugeot 4007 diesel is acting strange at 161983 km. I think the mass air flow meter (LMM) is bad. Fuel consumption is up, it stalls at idle sometimes, the check engine light is on, and it smokes when I accelerate. Could it be the mass air flow sensor?

I had similar issues with my Opel Astra a while back. Check engine light, rough idle... pretty frustrating. Was your fuel consumption significantly higher, or just a little? Did you check the air filter, and are there any unusual noises coming from the air intake?

When you say 'significantly higher', do you mean a percentage increase, or a specific amount more fuel per distance? For the air filter, is a visual check good enough, or should I look for something specific? And what kind of noises are you talking about, like whistling or sputtering?

With my Astra, fuel use jumped about 15%, and the filter looked fine, but the garage said it was partly blocked. I heard a slight whistling at higher RPMs. If it sounds similar, maybe visit a workshop. It was 365€ to fix.

Thanks, that confirms what I suspected. I fixed it; the LMM was bad, and replacing it solved the problems. Thanks again.
