Sounds very familiar. Recalibration rings a bell. Honestly, I tried a few things myself, but ended up taking it to a workshop. They sorted it pretty quickly, and it wasn't crazy expensive.

I had something similar with my 4007. By general electrical malfunction, do you mean seemingly random things cutting out or acting weird? For me, it was the interior lights flickering and the central locking going haywire. Did you get any specific error codes?
