Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't really tracked my fuel consumption closely enough to notice. Where exactly is the purge valve located, and is it something I could potentially check myself before taking it to a mechanic?

While I am unfamiliar with the exact layout of your Peugeot I'm afraid I am not able to provide more detailed guidance on the purge valve location. I would recommend a visit to a qualified workshop. They will most likely check the activated charcoal filter, as a defective one could lead to similar symptoms.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a shop, and you were spot on. It was indeed the activated charcoal filter causing a fuel tank ventilation system leak. They replaced it, and the total cost came to 275€. The check engine light is now off, and the engine runs smoothly. I really appreciate your help!

I had an almost identical issue with my old Opel Astra. The check engine light was intermittent, and the engine would sometimes stall at traffic lights. Have you noticed any change in your fuel efficiency? It could point to an issue with the EVAP system. In my case, it turned out to be a defective purge valve.
