Peugeot 4007 Torque Converter Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Peugeot 4007 with a diesel engine is experiencing issues with the check engine light and transmission indicator being on, along with gearbox slipping, unclean shifts, and grinding noises. A diagnostic scan revealed an error related to the torque converter lock-up clutch. The problem is likely due to a defective torque converter, and it is recommended to have a professional workshop diagnose and repair the issue, which may involve significant transmission repair costs.

Yes, the engine does surge a bit, especially when accelerating. The error code definitely mentioned the torque converter lock-up clutch being defective. Does that sound like what you experienced?

That's exactly what happened to me. Unfortunately, it was indeed the automatic transmission converter. I'd suggest taking it to a trusted workshop for a proper diagnosis, but be prepared for transmission repair costs.

Thanks for the info! I took it to the workshop and they confirmed it was the torque converter. Repair cost was 2120€. At least I know what it is now.

I have a 4007 and experienced similar symptoms. Does the engine seem to surge at all, almost like it's trying to find the right gear? Was the error code specifically pointing to the torque converter?
