Peugeot 4007 Transmission Oil Pressure Sensor Fault

Has anyone experienced a transmission oil pressure sensor fault on a 2011 diesel Peugeot 4007 with 160582 km? The engine warning light is on, an error code is stored, and the gearbox occasionally enters emergency mode, slips during gear changes, and sometimes grinds when shifting. I suspected low gearbox oil, but topping it off didn't help.

I encountered a similar problem with my old Volvo V70. It also had a transmission issue, and the symptoms were almost identical – warning lights, error codes, and rough shifting. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty pressure sensor, but it was triggered by a different cause. Have you checked the wiring to the sensor? Also, what error code are you getting?

I haven't inspected the sensor wiring yet. I will check it tomorrow. I need to retrieve the error code again, but I recall it specifically indicating a fault with the transmission oil pressure sensor circuit. Could a faulty sensor cause all the symptoms I am experiencing?

Yes, a faulty sensor can absolutely trigger all those symptoms. The car's computer relies on the sensor readings to control the transmission, and if the sensor is sending incorrect data, it can cause all sorts of problems. However, given that topping off the oil didn't help, and the grinding noise, it might be worth having a workshop take a look. They can properly diagnose the sensor and also check the transmission itself for any internal damage.

I inspected the wiring but found no obvious issues. Given your experience and the potential for internal transmission damage, I took the vehicle to a workshop. The diagnosis confirmed a faulty transmission oil pressure sensor. Replacing the sensor and performing a transmission service resolved the issue. The total cost was 365€.
