Peugeot 4008 Rear Window Heating Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Peugeot 4008 experienced a rear window heating issue, with the windshield heating also underperforming. Initial checks showed the fuses were fine, but the problem persisted. A heavily discharged battery was identified as a potential cause, and after replacing the battery and clearing error codes, the heating functions were restored.

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, I don't have the exact error code to hand right now. I haven't checked the battery under load, but I will do that tomorrow. If the battery checks out, what else could be the problem?

If the battery is strong, and assuming the fuses are definitely good (double-check them with a multimeter, sometimes a visual inspection isn't enough), the next most likely culprit is a fault in the rear window heating element itself or the wiring to it. However, given the windshield heater issue too, and without an error code, my gut feeling is still pointing towards a voltage issue or a problem with the Body Control Module (BCM) that manages these functions. Honestly, you're probably best off getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop.

Thanks for your help. I checked the battery and it was indeed heavily discharged. I took it to the workshop, and after replacing the battery and clearing the error codes, everything is working perfectly again. Cost me 290€, but at least it's sorted.

Interesting. When you say 'error memory', can you be more specific? What's the exact error code? A heavily discharged or defective battery could cause weird issues with the heating circuits, especially with modern cars that are so electronically dependent. Have you checked the battery's voltage under load?
