Peugeot 406 AC Failure

My 2000 Peugeot 406 with a gasoline engine has an AC issue. It doesn't cool, there's an error stored, and the AC won't switch on. A warning light is on, mileage is 131886 km. I suspect the AC control unit. Has anyone else seen this?

I had similar issues with my 2012 Opel Astra. The AC would randomly cut out, and eventually stopped working. My mechanic initially suspected the compressor, but it turned out to be a faulty sensor in the AC control module. Have you checked all the fuses and relays related to the AC system?

I've visually inspected the fuses and relays, but haven't done an electrical test. Could a faulty relay or fuse cause the error code and warning light? What specific sensor failed in your Opel Astra? Was it related to the compressor or the control module?

In my case, the sensor was integrated within the AC control module, not directly on the compressor. A faulty relay could cause some of those symptoms, but the error code and warning light suggest a deeper issue. Given the complexity, and the potential for refrigerant leaks, it might be best to have a qualified technician diagnose it properly. You don't want to risk damaging the system further.

I consulted a technician, and they confirmed a defective AC control unit. The repair cost 980€. Thanks for the advice; it helped guide my next steps.
