Thanks for the hint! Corrosion could well be the issue. I only visually checked the plug, but not the cable. Could that really stop the whole blower? Where was the corrosion exactly on your BMW?

Yes, in my case, the corrosion was on the connector pins. I just wanted to let you know what it might be. I can't say whether that stops the blower, but it did in my BMW. Given your mileage and the symptoms, the error codes and the condition, I'd just bring it to a workshop. If you are not as savvy with electrics, it is the best way to solve this. Less messing around.

Thanks, that's helpful! I took it to the shop, and you were right – corroded connection. They cleaned it and replaced a small section of the cable. Cost me 95€, but at least the blower is working again. So I can confirm: a faulty AUC sensor connection can indeed stop the blower motor in a Peugeot 406.

Sounds familiar. Had a similar problem with my older BMW 5-series, also with a diesel engine. The AUC sensor (automatic air recirculation) is part of the climate control system and if the blower motor doesn't work, the sensor may be faulty. Was also likely the plug connection. Did you check the cable for corrosion?
