Interesting! Where exactly should I be looking for these leaks? Is it something I can check myself, or should I just take it to a shop?

Honestly, unless you're really comfortable with cars, I'd say get it checked by a professional. In my case, it was a small crack in the exhaust manifold. It was causing all sorts of problems with the engine management. Best to get it sorted properly. If the sensor is the issue, sensor replacement should fix it.

Thanks a lot for the advice! Took it to the shop, turns out there was a leak in the exhaust system that was messing with the exhaust temperature sensor. They fixed the leak and replaced the sensor. Cost me 265€, but at least the engine runs smoothly again!

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my 406. The diagnostic tool showed some issues with the emission control system. Have you checked for any exhaust leaks? That can mess with the sensor readings.
