Peugeot 406 Headlight Range Control Fault

I'm experiencing a peculiar issue with my 2003 Peugeot 406 diesel. The headlight range control appears faulty. The error memory stores an error, and a warning light is on the speedometer. The low beam seems incorrectly adjusted, shining too far downwards or upwards. I suspect a defective servomotor, but would appreciate any insights.

I had something similar with my 406. The adaptive headlights are quite complex. Does it happen intermittently, or is it a constant issue? Have you checked the control module for any visible damage or loose connections?

The issue is persistent, occurring every time I use the headlights. I haven't inspected the control module myself, as I'm not entirely familiar with its location or the proper procedure. Could you perhaps provide more detail on where to find it and what to look for?

Ah, persistent is less fun. To be honest, while you can check the module (usually behind the glove box, look for a black plastic housing), I'd suggest going to a workshop. If it's the servomotor, it might require specific tools to replace. I ended up paying around 1040€ to have mine professionally fixed. It could save you time and potential further issues.

Understood. Considering the potential complexity and cost, I will consult a workshop to diagnose and repair the headlight range control fault. I appreciate your assistance.
