Peugeot 406 power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Peugeot 406 is experiencing significant engine power loss and a persistent check engine light. The initial suspicion is a defective throttle valve, but a similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by replacing the accelerator pedal module, which caused a delayed response. It is suggested to have the accelerator pedal module professionally checked as a potential solution.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

A delayed response, huh? Yeah, now that you mention it, there's a slight lag when I press the accelerator. How did you pinpoint the accelerator pedal module? Did you get any specific error codes?

The error codes pointed towards throttle body issues, but after swapping that out and still having the same problem, a mechanic suggested testing the pedal module. Bingo! I'd say get it checked out professionally. In the end, it cost me about 265€ to get sorted.

Thanks for the insight! I'll definitely take it to a workshop and mention the accelerator pedal module. Hopefully, that's the issue. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, although it was a diesel. Reduced power and the check engine light drove me nuts! In my case, it turned out to be the accelerator pedal module. The electronics inside had gone bad, causing a delayed response and messing with the air flow. Have you noticed any response delay?
