Peugeot 406 Sporadic Errors

Has anyone else experienced sporadic errors in driving mode, intermittently illuminated warning lights, failure of audio/navigation, or control unit shutdowns in their 2002 Peugeot 406 diesel? Diagnostic scans show stored errors in the error memory, and I suspect a defective cable connection to the BUS system after 175571 kilometers.

Interesting. I have a 406 and I experienced very similar issues a while back. The symptoms you describe – sporadic errors, system failures, and unresponsive control units – all align with what I encountered. Did you check the OBD-II port for specific error codes?

Yes, I have utilized an OBD-II scanner, and several codes related to communication errors within the CAN bus network are present. Could you elaborate on the specific nature of the cable connection fault you encountered and perhaps indicate which control units were primarily affected in your case?

Certainly. In my case, it was ultimately a corroded connector within the wiring harness that serves the central control module. While my specific symptoms mirrored yours, pinpointing the exact source required a thorough inspection by a qualified technician. Given the potential complexity and the importance of the affected systems, I would strongly advise consulting with a competent automotive workshop equipped with the necessary diagnostic tools and expertise.

I appreciate your detailed explanation and prudent advice. Based on your experience, I will proceed with scheduling a diagnostic appointment at a reputable workshop. I received a quote of 155€ for the repair, so with some luck, it will resolve the error. Thank you again for sharing your insights; your contribution has been invaluable.
