Peugeot 406 System Readiness Error
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Peugeot 406 owner experienced a 'System readiness check incomplete' error after an OBD2 diagnostic. This issue likely arose from clearing error codes, which interrupted the system's self-tests. The suggested solution was to drive the car for a while to allow the system to complete its checks. Following this advice resolved the issue without any cost.

I did clear some codes after the OBD2 reading. So, you think the 'System readiness check incomplete' is just a consequence of that? Is there anything I can do myself, or is a vehicle inspection unavoidable?

Clearing the codes is very likely the reason. The system needs to re-run its self-tests, which usually happens automatically after driving. Since the error is still present, I'd recommend a workshop for diagnostics. The cost should be minimal, and you'll know the problem is fixed.

Thanks! After a vehicle inspection, it turned out that all the car needed was driving for a certain amount of time to re-run system checks after clearing the computer. Everything is fine now, at a cost of 0€!

I also own a 406, and I've encountered similar issues after diagnostics. Did you recently try to clear any error codes or perform a computer reset? It might be related to your exhaust system or emissions test readiness. Have you considered an inspection?
