Peugeot 407 Auxiliary Heater Problem

Having trouble with my 2011 Peugeot 407 2.0L diesel. The auxiliary heater won't activate. Diagnostic check shows an error, but no other info. I've checked ventilation/heater core fuses and for coolant leaks. The blower motor works. Anyone seen this?

I had something similar with my 407 a while ago. Same symptoms – heater wouldn't kick in, error code. Have you checked the glow plugs?

Glow plugs? I was suspecting the heater itself. Could a defective glow plug really cause the entire parking heater system to fail? Seems a bit dramatic.

It's annoying. The auxiliary heater uses the glow plugs to pre-heat. If one's gone, the whole system throws a tantrum. I tried to fix it myself, but ended up taking it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the glow plug and sorted it.

Appreciate the insight! Sounds like that's the path I'll have to take. Will get it checked out at the workshop. You were spot on: diagnosis confirmed a defective glow plug in the auxiliary heater. Repair cost me 440€ but at least I'll stay warm.
