Peugeot 407 rail pressure sensor fault

My 2010 Peugeot 407, diesel, 163108 km, shows a 'Rail pressure sensor signal faulty' error. The check engine light comes on, the engine stalls at idle, and engine power is reduced. Could a defective pressure sensor be the cause?

It sounds like a potential issue with your fuel injection system, specifically the fuel pressure regulation. The symptoms you're experiencing are consistent with a faulty rail pressure sensor. Think of it like a faulty thermostat in your house, causing temperature fluctuations. Have you checked the sensor's wiring and connections for any damage or corrosion?

Thanks. I haven't checked the wiring yet. Where exactly should I be looking for the sensor and what readings should I expect?

Given the symptoms and error code, a defective pressure sensor is highly probable. Checking the wiring is a good first step, but diagnosing the sensor properly requires specialized tools. Consider visiting a workshop for a professional diagnosis. They will use diagnostic tools to assess the sensor's signal and the overall fuel injection system.

Appreciate the input. Replacing the pressure sensor did the trick. Total cost was 240€.
