Peugeot 407 throttle issue

Evening. My 2008 Peugeot 407 (gasoline engine) is giving me grief. It’s done 227537 km. I'm pretty sure the throttle valve is defective. Getting higher fuel consumption and she starts real rough. I'm thinking it’s the accelerator pedal module causing the issue. Anyone had similar?

Ugh, sounds familiar! Had almost the EXACT same drama with my old Renault Megane. Symptoms were spot on – drinking fuel like it was going out of style and starting like a grumpy old man on a Monday. Have you tried cleaning the throttle body and checking the air intake for any obstructions? It’s like giving it a good scrub to clear its airways! Might be worth a shot before diving into deeper waters.

Cheers for the tip! When you say 'exactly the same drama', do you mean it was definitely the accelerator pedal module in the end? And how much did that set you back if you don't mind me asking?

Okay, 'exactly' might be a strong word, haha. It was related to the throttle system for sure, turned out there was indeed gunk in the throttle body. But the main culprit was a faulty sensor on the control valve. It was sending weird signals. Honestly, unless you're super confident, I'd get it hooked up to a diagnostic machine. Save yourself a headache and potential further damage. Find a good workshop!

You were spot on with suggesting a workshop. The diagnostic machine confirmed a defective accelerator pedal module. Cost me 205€ but at least it's sorted! Thanks for the help!
